MISSION STATEMENT:
St. John exists to preach the Word of God and administer the Sacraments, to facilitate and encourage Christian fellowship, to reach out into the community lifting high the cross, and to share the Good News as commanded in Matthew 28:18-20.

National Affiliation:
Tracing our roots back to 1st Century Christianity and the Lutheran Reformation of the 16th Century, we are a local church family of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (“synod” literally means “walking together”). With international headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri, the LCMS is made up of more than 6,500 congregations “walking together” in the United States with mission partners throughout the world. Through our affiliation with the LCMS, we support mission work in over 35 foreign countries and train pastors, missionaries, church workers, and teachers to staff the largest Protestant system of parochial grade schools and high schools in the United States. The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod’s Northern Illinois District is 210 congregations plus new missions and satellite sites that span 24 counties in the northern one-third of Illinois. Our district serves as the go-to place for issues related to our congregations, church workers and their ministries, ensuring Scriptural and Confessional faithfulness of doctrine and practice and helping each other to actively engage in our local communities and become a responsive church in changing times.
